Surrealism "Peaceful and Calm"
In a place where no one really knew what was going on, lived a girl who always seemed to have a cloak on. She never talked to anyone and always just kept to herself. She could talk to flowers and look the sun in the eye. To be honest, people feared looking at her. They thought she was crazy and didn’t want to be associated with her. She wanted to understand why people acted the way they did towards her. She decided she was going to take a journey to get the answers to the questions she had. Everyone knew there was an old man at the top of the mountain that could answer her questions for some kind of trade. Everyone said he tricked you and you were never the same after you visited him. This didn’t scare her since she felt she already had it bad the way she was. On a chilly winter morning she decided to begin her journey to the top of the mountain. There was a house sitting there in the dark. Not even the sun dare look at it. She was having second thoughts when she saw the house but she knew she had gone too far. With each step she grew closer and closer to the house. Her heart beat faster and faster. Thinking what she was going to say she kept stuttering and stuttering. With the final step, everything around her grew dark. It wasn’t pitch black but more like a really stormy day. She could smell rain but there were no clouds. “Who goes there?” asked voice. “It’s just me, I was hoping you could help me out,” she said. She was scared, more like horrified. She wished she could have chosen better words to speak to such person. Before she could open her mouth to try and make what she said better, a man appeared in front of her. To her surprise he wasn’t old or ugly at all. It was a handsome young man standing in front of her. He looked her up and down and went around her to make sure he had seen all sides of her. “What’s wrong?” he asked. “People don’t talk to me I think I scare them,” she explained. “I don’t see why that would happen,” he said, “but how do you want me to help you?” “I want people to see how peaceful and calm I really am,” she said. “Peaceful and calm like the ocean?” he asked. “Yeah if you say so,” she agreed. She was more scared than ever. She didn’t know what to expect. “Okay, it’s done,” he said, “now everyone will see you’re peaceful and calm like the ocean.” Saying that he disappeared. She was more confused than before but she trusted he had helped her. She walked back down the mountain to where the sun was shinning again. The sun didn’t look at her it just went on watching the land. By this time she was as confident ever. She waved and said hi to everyone she saw. The only looked back at her with blank stares confusion and fear. She ran home and said her problem wasn’t fixed. When she ran by the flower, it froze in shock. “What’s wrong with me?” she asked. The flower, of course, didn’t have the heart to tell her. He just led her to the mirror. She saw her own reflection and was shocked. Peaceful and calm like the ocean, she kept repeating in her mind until she was yelling it at the top of her lungs. Running around in circles she went mad. An image of the ocean had replaced her face. No one dared look at her, now even the sun looked away. She sat there next to her flower waiting for a better day when she could forget what she had done and what it made her become.
